Important Dates

CenterLight Healthcare Direct is here to assist you with information regarding your Medicare benefits. Here are some important dates to remember:

Date: Your 65th Birthday

You are now eligible for Medicare. You can enroll from three months before your 65th birthday and up to three months after your birthday.

Date: January 1, 2012 - February 14, 2012

Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period (MADP). During this time, you are permitted to disenroll from a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan and return to Original Medicare Part A and Part B. If you disenroll from an MA plan that includes prescription drug coverage (MA-PD plan), you may use this Special Election Period (SEP) from Medicare to enroll in a stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plan. Your request to disenroll in January will become effective on February 1st, and requests for disenrollemnt made in February will become effective on March 1st.

Specific rules apply to different types of Medicare Advantage plans, including Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) and Private Fee-for-Service Plans (PFFS). For more information about disenrollment from these plans, visit www.medicare.gov.

Date: October 1, 2012

Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug plan information becomes available to you. At this time, Medicare allows plans to tell you about their coverage options and benefits for the upcoming year. This allows you to compare costs and coverage choices before the start of the Annual Election Period.

Date: October 15, 2012 - December 7, 2012

Medicare’s Annual Coordinated Election Period (AEP). This period of time is enrollment for Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans and Prescription Drug Plans (PDP). During this time, you can enroll in a MA or PDP plan, switch from your current plan or return to Original Medicare.
