Participants in the painting group at Teamcare Allerton are currently working on a project over the course of several weeks. They all start with the same initial design but in the end, each participant will have a final product unique to them! They spend weeks working toward their final design, which is good for practicing patience and creativity over a long period of time. Great work so far!
Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Lillian Andino Vargas sets up for the 99th Street Summer Flea Market. Staff donated all the items & everyone is welcome to shop if they want!
It is a fun summer tradition for our employees, and as an added bonus, all proceeds go to making activities for our participants even more special.
Every year many of our Teamcare centers have BBQs outside, including our 99th Street location pictured below. Food, music, dancing, and spending time with great people make for a perfect summer day!
Participants at Teamcare Seneca made clothespin wreaths for a colorful Summer decoration! Nearly every participant at the center created a beautiful wreath and put their own personal spin on the design.
Pamella, one of our participants at our Westchester Teamcare center, became a US citizen earlier this year! She's pictured here with Donna, her physical therapist. Pamella said that she chose to become a US citizen because her opportunity in this country is better as a citizen. She's also proud to have the right to vote. Her family helped her through the process.
Pamella's advice for younger generations? Put God first in all they do, take care of their parents and the older generations, and forgive and love each other.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
We are constantly amazed at the artistic talents of our participants. At our CenterLight Teamcare center in Seneca, for example, participants painted these beautiful bird houses, just in time for spring!
Our Jamaica Alternative Care Setting celebrated Mother's Day with flowers, dancing, and affirmations for all the wonderful participants and staff who are moms. We hope your Mother's Day weekend was just as special!
Some of our Teamcare centers, such as Wallerstein and Bushwick, recently celebrated Cinco de Mayo with music, dancing, food, and decorations! Check out what other activities are going on at our sites here: https://www.centerlighthealthcare.org/activities
In many CenterLight Teamcare sites this week, our participants joined in on various activities in preparation for Easter. Our 99th Street participants enjoyed making beautiful and colorful hats, some of them are shown here.
Wishing our Christian friends, family and community members a Happy Easter!
Happy Holi! Here's some of our Jamaica ACS participants and staff celebrating the holiday yesterday with music, colorful powder, and delicious treats.
Each month, our Jamaica ACS hosts a group of elementary school kids from PS 186's "Kindness Committee" whose goal is to bring joy and kindness to our seniors as part of our #intergenerational program. The kids bring treats and kind notes to our seniors. Recently, they worked together to create 2 Valentine's quilts--one for our center, and one for their school. Each person wrote what love means to them on a heart and they put it all together. Both our participants and the students look forward to spending time together during this awesome program every month.
For #ValentinesDay, we talked to Teamcare Amityville participants Mr. and Mrs. Sharan, who have been married for over 70 years! They both say that the key to a long and happy marriage is understanding each other 💗
The Sharans have loved coming to the Teamcare center for the past 4 years, forming relationships with participants and staff. They both love music, Mr. Sharan practices yoga, and overall the two love to spend time together!
Happy Valentine's Day!
In all four of these couples, both people are participants at our Grand Street location💕
