Fall Fun!

Fall is here, and at CenterLight Healthcare Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, we want you to have a safe and fun autumn! Our Therapeutic Recreation Team has created a list of fun activities you can do all fall long to take advantage of the season. Please consult your medical provider to find out what activities are advised for you.

Pumpkin Carving or Painting

Exercise your fine & gross motor skills along with your artistic skills—have some fun decorating pumpkins that you can put out on your stoop for the kids on Halloween, or bake later for treats.

Decorate your home

Use window clings, leaf decorations, scarecrows, or fall scented candles to get your home in the fall spirit.

Bake a Pie/Start a Recipe Book

Gather the family or your home health aide and use seasonal fruits like apples, pumpkins, or sweet potatoes. This can also be a fun way to spend quality time with grandkids and children.

Have a Friendsgiving Party

If you don’t have family close by that you can spend Thanksgiving day with, plan a get together with your friends in the community. Start the tradition of a fun and festive “Friendsgiving” where everyone can gather together, share stories, and eat some good food.

Go for an Outdoor Walk

Autumn can be beautiful! Go outside and get some exercise before the winter. You can enjoy the fall foliage and change of colors, as well as activities like apple picking, pumpkin picking, or visiting a local farm or a local park. Make sure you consult with your provider or care team regarding activities appropriate for you.

Visit the Local Library

Get familiar with your local library and take advantage of fall reading programs and other activities for older adults.

Knit a Hat, Scarf or Sweater

Knitting is a great way to learn a new skill or maintain your skill while spending time inside with loved ones. Learn how to knit from your therapeutic recreation team or from online recreational programs. You can use fall colors like brown, orange, yellows, grays, and reds to match the leaves outside.

Plant a Garden

This is the time when you can plant flowers that will bloom in the spring, such as perennials, shrubs, mums, dahlias, purple pansies, sunflowers, and chrysanthemums. Please remember to wear warm clothing and stay safe in the cold weather/
